Review by Frederick Barton (Cybersecurity Editor)

There are many issues that can result from outdated plug-ins, which, in turn, may cause some security issues. To avoid such situations, you can use WIGI, which is short for "Why I Got Infected". This simple utility does one thing, but it does it well. It scans for outdated plug-ins and it helps you get the latest versions from their official sources. With its help, you can figure out what needs to be updated in just a few seconds.

The application works on all popular Windows platforms and it can be launched immediately, without going through an installation process. WIGI doesn't have any noticeable impact on a computer's performance and it doesn't have any special requirements.

Clicking a button, on the application's compact user interface, is all you have to do. In just a few seconds, WIGI will display the found plug-ins in a list, along with a few details, like current and latest versions. All items in the list are color coded, to indicate if they are up to date or not.

If you spot an outdated plug-in, you can simply double click its entry. This will bring up the plug-in's official download page, where you can get the latest version. The application is capable of checking essential browser plug-ins, like Adobe Flash, as well as the browsers themselves. Furthermore, WIGI can also check if the operating system requires any updates.

Checking for plug-in updates can take only a few seconds, thanks to WIGI's efficient functionality.

Pros

You can check for updates quickly, with a single click. The application can take you directly to a plug-ins official download page, to help you update faster.

Cons

The application is a bit limited when it comes to what type of plug-ins it can check.
